If you’re new here, you’ve probably seen a few different names: MediaLight, Pro2, LX1, and Ideal-Lume. Every one of them comes from the same engineering team and is built to meet the same D65 reference standard — but each is tuned for a specific purpose and audience. Here’s how they fit together.

MediaLight Mk2

MediaLight Mk2: Everything You Need, Right in the Box

The MediaLight Mk2 series is the foundation of our lineup — professional-grade bias lighting made to meet the same D65 standard used in mastering studios. It uses custom high-CRI (98 Ra) LEDs with exceptionally tight binning and dense spacing for smooth, uniform illumination and precise color temperature (6500 K). The result is the same neutral, accurate light trusted by post-production professionals around the world.

Everything you need for a perfect bias lighting installation is already in the box.

MediaLight Pro2: For the True Perfectionist

The Pro2 series builds on everything in the Mk2 and refines it even further. These are our most advanced lights, designed for environments where color fidelity and stability are essential — grading suites, broadcast facilities, and other color-critical spaces.

  • CRI: 99+ with ultra-high R9 values.
  • Spectral Accuracy: Even tighter conformity to the D65 curve.
  • LEDs: Custom emitters engineered specifically for post-production use.

The Pro2 shares the same build quality and thoughtful design as the Mk2, but with next-generation emitters that deliver our most precise and stable performance to date. It’s the model we use ourselves in calibration and testing environments, where consistency matters more than anything else.

If we could make every MediaLight strip a Pro2, we would — but those emitters are dramatically more expensive, and that drives up cost. That’s why the Mk2 delivers very similar performance at a more accessible price, while the Pro2 represents what’s possible when we prioritize refinement above all else.

And if you look at our lineup over the past decade, the progress is clear: today’s LX1 — our most affordable model — already outperforms our best lights from ten years ago. Every generation brings us closer to perfect.

The LX1 uses the same trusted 6500 K D65 color point and high-CRI (95+) emitters for excellent color rendering, contrast enhancement, and reduced eye strain — all at a more accessible price.
