International Shipping

Big change to international shipping

To make international shopping simpler and more transparent, we've switched to DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) shipping through Shopify's Managed Markets. What you see at checkout is what you pay — all applicable taxes and duties are included upfront, with no surprise charges upon delivery.

This change is effective Friday, May 1, 2026. If you placed an order before this date, please see the previous policy below.

Previous Policy (orders placed before May 1, 2026)

Shipping within the USA? Click here for our USA shipping page. For returns and refunds, see our returns page.

We ship worldwide from New Jersey and work with customers across dozens of countries. This page covers how international orders work, what to expect on duties and taxes, and the shipping options available to you. If you have a question that isn't covered here, get in touch — we're happy to help you figure out the best way to get your order.

International pricing and tariffs

In 2025, changes in U.S. trade policy significantly increased the cost of importing goods into the United States. To account for this, we've adjusted international pricing downward to reflect what we recover through a process called tariff drawback, which lets us reclaim U.S. import tariffs on goods that are re-exported. The practical effect: if you're shipping outside the USA, you're paying a lower product price than U.S. customers, which helps offset the duties and VAT your country may charge on arrival.

If you're ordering on behalf of a business, you may be able to reclaim VAT or GST depending on your country's tax rules. We can't guarantee eligibility and don't assist with reclaim paperwork, but we're happy to provide a copy of your invoice.

Duties, VAT, and import fees

All international orders ship under DAP (Delivered at Place) terms. In plain English:

  • You are responsible for any import duties, VAT, or local taxes your country charges.
  • These fees are not collected at checkout — your local courier will typically request payment before completing delivery.
  • Fees vary by country and product category. Your country's customs authority or a local dealer can usually provide better estimates than we can.

If you refuse a shipment or decline to pay duties, any refund will only be issued if the package is successfully returned to us, and it will be reduced by return shipping costs and any unrecoverable duties. In some cases this leaves little or nothing to refund. Unclaimed international shipments are frequently destroyed by customs or the carrier — if that happens, a refund isn't possible. Please make sure you're ready to accept the package and pay any applicable fees before ordering.

Why we ship DAP, not DDP

In the past, we occasionally offered Delivered Duty Paid (DDP) shipping, where we collected duties and VAT upfront. Over time this became unworkable:

  • Ongoing trade conflicts created customs complications in multiple regions — we'd charge duties at checkout, but customers were sometimes asked to pay again on arrival.
  • Business customers couldn't always reclaim VAT because the invoice amount didn't match what was actually paid, often due to currency conversions.
  • Frequent changes in international tax policy made DDP increasingly hard to administer predictably.
  • DDP gave carriers broad authority to assess fees on our account, and some of those fees were unreasonable. Standard import costs like disbursement fees or mandatory inspection fees (such as Spain's SOIVRE fee) are a normal part of importing and should be paid. But we've seen $300 "storage fees" on $50 items for sitting in a warehouse over a weekend — we wouldn't pass that on to you, nor would we want to. Under DAP, you see the bill before agreeing to it. If something looks genuinely out of proportion, reach out before refusing the shipment and we'll see what we can do.

DAP is more transparent: you pay your country's actual fees directly to your country, with no markup from us and no risk of double-charging.

Shipping options

FedEx International Priority: Fast delivery to most destinations — 2–3 business days, 4–5 for remote areas.

FedEx International Connect Plus (FICP): A cost-effective option typically 1–2 days slower than Priority. Often avoids brokerage fees (not guaranteed), though duties and VAT still apply.

USPS First Class International: Available for select low-cost items and destinations. Delivery is slower and tracking is limited, so we only offer it where it genuinely makes sense.

Rates and available options are displayed at checkout based on your destination. Delivery times are carrier estimates and can be affected by customs processing or local disruptions.

Delays and carrier issues

International shipments occasionally get held up in customs or delayed by local carrier issues. For most orders, this adds at most a day or two to transit. If a delay is caused by a clear carrier error and the carrier issues a refund, we'll pass it along. Delays caused by customs processing or factors outside the carrier's control aren't eligible for reimbursement — those are part of the reality of international shipping.

Freight forwarders

You're welcome to use a freight forwarder, but a few things to know:

  • Once the package is delivered to the forwarder's address, the order is considered delivered on our end.
  • Forwarders occasionally lose or mishandle packages, and we're not able to take responsibility for what happens after initial delivery.
  • Warranty coverage may be affected, since forwarded products can be harder to trace for service.

We recommend using a forwarder only if you've worked with them successfully before.

International dealers

We work with a small network of international dealers who may be able to offer lower total costs in some regions. Not always — sometimes direct ordering is faster or more convenient, or a dealer doesn't carry the specific product you're after. If you'd like help comparing options before you place an order, just ask.

We try to be straightforward, reasonable, and quick to help when something unusual happens. If an order goes sideways in a way that isn't covered here, email us — there's a real person on the other end.

Thanks for shopping with us from wherever you are in the world!
