The MediaLight Mk2 Series:
Optimal Lighting For Color-Critical Video Viewing Environments

Have you been watching TV wrong your whole life?

With the MediaLight Mk2 Flex, you can finally enjoy watching movies on your TV without having to worry about whether your ambient lighting is accurate. We've tested and built an incredibly precise simulated D65 white bias light that is certified by the Imaging Science Foundation and used by professionals worldwide.

The MediaLight Mk2 Series was developed to provide an accurate, Simulated D65 “dim surround” bias light solution for the most demanding home cinema and professional video editing applications.

Mk2 combines ultra-high CRI and color temperature accuracy with the convenience and portability of a USB-powered LED bias lighting system. Color-stable dimming and instant warmup ensure that your surround light is always on target.

It's time to stop living (or, at least, watching TV) in the darkness!

"Simply put, the MediaLight Mk2 Flex does the job exactly as it says it will. I measured the performance with CalMAN and an i1Pro2 spectrometer, and it was right by the D65 white point and had the broadest spectral response of any light I have measured to date."

- Chris Heinonen, Reference Home Theater

For displays larger than 90", where 4-sided lighting is desired, we recommend placing the strip 3 inches from the edge, rather than 2 inches.  This is so that you don't run out of LEDs before you get around 4 sides.

Please read if following the guidelines for "Display on a stand":
It's costs a bit less to use a shorter strip, but people have complained that the "halo" looks too diffuse when the lights are further from the edge of the display. This doesn't make the lights less effective, but you have fewer options and the strip might be too short for some configurations. You will have more options if you choose the sizes in the 3 and 4-sided recommendations.

The shorter configuration still works for the 1m Eclipse with a computer monitor up to 46”. This is because, on a smaller display, the light from the different sides combines more evenly when the display is on a stand. (This is also why 3 sides will provide sufficient light for the bottom of the computer monitor. The left and right sides are still very close together compared to larger displays).

    Always Excellent

As always - Media Light works the best for television viewing. I could not stand for 'colored' lights as they are nothing but distractions. THIS light is what creates viewing pleasure.

    Such a great company

I was impressed, as much by the product as by the quick shipping and customer service. It really adds to the TV watching experience.

    Extremely impressed

I saw a Cnet story about eye strain caused by bright TVs, and it suggested bias lighting as a solution. So, I ordered the MediaLight Mk2 Flex two days ago. It arrived today, and I installed it in about five minutes. I also put up a gray sheet on the wall behind my Sony LED TV. I then gave the bias lighting a tough test to see how well it can work by playing the "4KHDR | Sony QD-OLED A95K" demo on YouTube with my 2021 Sony X95J LED TV. It was painful to watch because it was so bright. So, I increased the brightness of the bias lighting to 100 percent and the video's excessive brightness was instantly transformed into a completely natural experience. This video shows an egg yoke being dropped into a pile of flour, and with the bias lighting it was transformed from unwatchable into a highly detailed video without any excessive brightness. To verify that I was not experiencing confirmation bias in favor of my new toy, I replayed the video with the bias lighting turned off and had to shield my eyes from the extreme brightness. A note about this video: It is labeled as a Dolby Vision video, but it is actually played as an HDR10 video because Google refuses to pay the Dolby fee. It is still quite impressive to watch, but only with MediaLight's excellent bias lighting. With normal cable TV in 1080 HD, for which I have adjusted the brightness and contrast to tame the picture, I have the bias lighting set at 40 percent. The bias lighting still helps with this usage. I can also report that with my 2021 Sony Bravia TV, I have not experienced any problems with the bias lighting. The lights turn on when I power on my TV, and then the lights turn off exactly 90 seconds after I turn off my TV. And the lights stay on the entire time I watch TV, as they should. I am retired now, as so I watch a lot of TV. Having MediaLight's excellent bias lighting has really made a difference in my TV viewing enjoyment and it also decreased eye strain. And the price was very reasonable. Everything about my purchase and usage experience has been first rate. I could not be more pleased.

    Works like a charm.

Just installed the Medialight this morning. Installation was very straightforward and everything works as it should. Will re-calibrate and give it real test this evening - can't wait. Thanks for the great product!

    Love my Mk2 bias lighting

I have one Mk2 on a 75inch Samsung powered by it’s USB port. The lights turn on and off with the TV flawlessly. I have a second Mk2 on an 85inch Sony. To get around the “Sony bug” I use a wifi dimmer and ac adapter. Alexa allows me to control wifi dimmer with voice commands. Everything works smoothly. The lights give my TVs the goi g to the movies feel. I recommend the lights on all 4 sides of the TV. My 75inch uses lights on 3 sides and it is not quite as dramatic.
